Laser Eye Surgery FAQs

Is there an age limit?

Most people over 20 with healthy eyes are eligible. For some careers (like police or paramedics), surgery may be done from age 18.

Am I too old?

There’s no upper age limit, but we’ll check your eye health to ensure laser surgery is right for you. Cataracts or other conditions may need alternative solutions.

What tests are done?

We assess your suitability with advanced scans, including:

  • Corneal mapping & thickness
  • Corneal health check
  • Vision prescription testing
Will it hurt?

No. Your eyes are numbed with drops, so while you may feel some pressure, the procedure isn’t painful. Most patients are surprised how quick and easy it is.

Can both eyes be done the same day?

Yes, for convenience and faster recovery.

Will I be awake?

Yes, but your eyes are numb, and you won’t feel discomfort. General anaesthetic isn’t needed.

How long does it take?

Just a few minutes per eye—quicker than making a cup of tea. You'll be in and out the same day.

Could I go blind?

This is a common fear, but the risk is extremely rare. We use leading ZEISS laser technology and follow strict safety standards.

What if I blink or sneeze?

A gentle device holds your eyes open and anaesthetic drops prevent blinking. If you need to cough or sneeze, just let your surgeon know.

How long do results last?

Results are long-lasting. Some age-related vision changes may occur later, and a laser top-up may be an option.

When can I go back to work?
  • LASIK / SMILE / Blended Vision: 2–3 days
  • PRK: 5–7 daysWe’ll guide you based on your recovery.
What should I avoid after surgery?

For 1 week:

  • No eye makeup or dusty environments
When can I return to exercise?
  • Running/gym: 1 week
  • Swimming/sauna: 2 weeks
  • Contact sports: 4 weeks
Do you offer finance?

Yes, flexible options available through Gem Visa, Q Mastercard and more.

Will I still need eye exams?

Yes. Regular check-ups are vital for maintaining long-term eye health, even with clear vision.

What if my vision isn’t quite right?

If safe, we offer top-up laser procedures after healing (usually 1–6 months post-op) to fine-tune your results.

Still have questions?

We’re here for you: before, during, and after surgery.
